Lady Lions Close 2011 at Xavier (N.O.)

Tuesday's match gives Southeastern to close season on high note

Morgane Dadot and Nina Schmied lead the Lady Lions into Tuesday's season finale
HAMMOND – The Southeastern Louisiana women's tennis team will close out its 2011 schedule on Tuesday, facing Xavier (N.O.) at the City Park Tennis Center in New Orleans.

The match will be the regular season finale for both teams. Southeastern heads into the match with an 8-13 record, while Xavier is 3-16 overall.

Four Lady Lions will finish the spring with a winning singles record. Freshman Laura Verges (13-7) and junior Audrey Chelini (13-8) are tied for the team lead in singles wins.

At the bottom of the draw, sophomore Isabel Brito has been the team's most improved player and heads into Tuesday's finale with an 11-9 record. Junior Mia Hagiu (5-3) was also effective in limited singles action. Sophomore Nina Schmied (9-12), junior Morgane Dadot (8-12) and freshman Raissa Dias (1-13) round out the singles lineup.

In doubles play, Southeastern has posted a 26-37 record this season. Dadot and Schmied have teamed for a team-best 8-7 mark in doubles play.

Xavier is led by Melissa DeLoach, who has seven singles victories.
