CONWAY, Ark. – Senior guard
Mary Fountain scored a career-high 11 points to lead four Lady Lions in double figures, but it was not enough as Southeastern Louisiana fell to Central Arkansas, 79-61, in Southland Conference women's basketball action Saturday afternoon at the Farris Center.
Southeastern (12-14, 4-10 Southland) had its two-game winning streak snapped. Shooting 55.3 percent (26-for-47) from the field, UCA improved to 17-10 overall and 9-5 in league action.
The news was not all bad for the Lady Lions, who are fighting with three other teams for the final spot in the Southland Conference Tournament. Southeastern remains in the eighth spot heading into the final two games of the regular season, as Texas State, UT Arlington and Nicholls all also lost on Saturday.

Central Arkansas was led by Nakeia Guiden, who was 6-for-6 from the floor and 9-for-9 from the free throw line on the way to a game-high 21 points. Guiden was joined in double figures by Desiree Rogers (12 points), Megan Herbert (11 points) and Courtney Duever (11 points). Herbert led the Sugar Bears with four assists, while Destinee Rogers pulled down a team-high six rebounds.
UCA gained control early, though a Gibson layup pulled Southeastern to within 17-10, scoring off a feed from Sommers with 12:20 remaining in the opening half. The Sugar Bears responded with a 9-0 run to take a 26-10 lead with 8:14 left. Southeastern would get no closer than 13 the rest of the half and went into the break trailing, 40-25.
Fountain scored the second half's first basket, but UCA pushed the lead to 22 on a Guiden jumper that capped a 14-5 run, putting the Sugar Bears up, 54-32, with 14:56 left. The lead would grow to as many as 30 and Southeastern would get no closer than 18 on the way to the loss.
Southeastern will return home to host Southland Conference leader McNeese State on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in University Center. Seniors Fountain,
