HAMMOND – The Southeastern Louisiana women's basketball team will close out its non-conference schedule on Monday, facing in-state foe Tulane at 7 p.m. in Fogelman Arena.

Southeastern will be coming off a 12-day layoff, having defeated Louisiana-Lafayette, 56-52, on Dec. 21 in Hammond. The win was the third straight for the Lady Lions and pushed the team to its best start since the 1994-95 season.
In the win over the Ragin' Cajuns, Lady Lion senior forward
Rashima Jenkins finished with a double-double, earning LSWA Player of the Week honors thanks to her 10 points and career-high 10 rebounds. Senior center
Rachel Mackie (10 points, 10 rebounds) added a double-double of her own.
Junior guard
Kelli Jenkins led the Lady Lions with 14 points in the victory. The Plaquemine native also knocked down the clinching free throws in the final seconds.
For the season, Southeastern is averaging 64.8 points per game.
Rashima Jenkins leads the team with 9.5 points per game, followed by
Kelli Jenkins (9.1 ppg), freshman forward
Aja Gibson (8.8 ppg), junior guard
Latoria Holder (7.0 ppg), senior guard
Chelsea Hix (6.7 ppg) and Mackie (6.6 ppg).
The Lady Lions are shooting a Southland Conference-best 41.0 percent from the floor and have led the league in that category throughout the season. Gibson (50.0, 3rd),
Rashima Jenkins (49.4, 4th), Mackie (46.5, 5th) and
Kelli Jenkins (40.6, 13th) all rank among the league's most accurate shooters.
Kelli Jenkins also leads the team and ranks third in the Southland with 4.1 assists per game. She currently is ninth on the school's career assists list.
Jenkins is not the only Lady Lion climbing the program's career lists. Ranked 14th in the Southland with 1.7 three-point field goals per game, Hix ranks among the school's all-time best in three-point field goals made, three-point field goals attempted and three-point field goal percentage.
Southeastern has a league-best plus-6.0 rebounding margin, thanks in large part to the work of
Rashima Jenkins and Mackie. Jenkins is fifth in the Southland with 7.7 rebounds per game, while Mackie is 12th in the league, averaging 6.0 boards per contest.
Defensively, Southeastern is holding opponents to 63.2 points per game and forcing 21.2 turnovers per outing. Holder leads the team with 2.1 steals per game, as she and senior guard
Mary Fountain (1.9 spg) sit in eight and ninth place, respectively, in the Southland Conference. Holder also leads the team with seven blocked shots.
The Lady Lion defense will face one of its toughest tests of 2010-11 versus Tulane. The Green Wave extended their winning streak to three games with a 62-59 win over Old Dominion on Thursday.
In the win, senior guard Tiffany Aidoo led Tulane with 17 points. Aidoo was joined in double figures by senior wing Danielle Nunn (16 points) and senior guard Roshaunda Barnes (10 points).
Junior center Brett Benzio led Tulane with eight rebounds. Barnes also contributed six assists and six steals.

Tulane is averaging 39.1 rebounds per game, but is being out-rebounded by opponents by 2.2 boards per outing. Benzio (6.8 rpg) and Grayson (6.2 rpg) are the team's top rebounders.
Defensively, Tulane is holding opponents to 62.3 points per game. Barnes leads the team with 3.2 steals per game, while Benzio paces the squad with 2.0 blocked shots per contest.
Southeastern is 6-12 all-time versus Tulane. Last season, the Green Wave rolled to an 81-45 win over the Lady Lions despite 17 points from then-senior Lady Lion guard
Kim Edmonson. Tulane has won the last eight meetings and Southeastern has not picked up a victory in the series since a 69-63 win during the 1986-87 campaign.
Following Monday's game, Southeastern will open Southland Conference play on Saturday, facing Stephen F. Austin at 6 p.m. in Nacogdoches, Texas. Saturday's game will be broadcast live in the Hammond area on KSLU-FM (90.9) and on the Internet at www.LionSports.net.
