The momentum shifted back to the Lady Lions in the top of the third inning. Freshman Kelsey Nichols doubled, advanced to third on a single by sophomore Meghan Gomez and scored on an RBI single by Duhe. Takacs later singled home Gomez and Duhe to put Southeastern back on top, 5-4.

UTSA took the lead for good in the fourth, as it was the Roadrunners' turn to record back-to-back homers. With one out and a runner on, Holmes powered a home run over the left centerfield fence. Two pitches later, junior Krista Kappler homered to chase Thomason from the circle and put UTSA up, 7-5.

Southeastern cut into the lead thanks to two UTSA errors in the top of the fifth. With two outs and the bases loaded, sophomore Jordan Logan reached on an error that allowed Takacs to score. However, Holmes retired sophomore Lauren Coniglio with the bases loaded to keep the lead at 7-6.

Southeastern mounted a threat in its half of the sixth inning. Singles by Duhe and Gomez put two runners on with one out. Sophomore Morgan Luksa recovered to retire Takacs and junior Tamra Ladnier to end the threat.
