HAMMOND, La. – After helping the 2026 Southland Conference regular season champion and the two-time reigning SLC Tournament champion Southeastern Louisiana University softball team to a 4-2 week, Lion sophomore Hallie Burns was named the Southland Conference Pitcher of the Week in an announcement from the league office.
 
Burns received the weekly honor for the second time this season, having previously won the award Feb. 9. She is one of four Southeastern players to receive weekly recognition by the conference, joining Ka'Lyn Watson (April 13), Cera Blanchard (March 30) and Maria Detillier (March 16).
 
Burns was 3-1 on the week with an 0.79 earned run average, as SLU took two of three on the road at both SFA and Nicholls. The Booneville, Miss. earned a win at SFA, while also beating the Colonels twice.
 
She is one of the primary arms for a SLU pitching staff that currently ranks second nationally with a 1.63 team ERA and leads Division I with a single-season school record 18 shutouts. Ranking seventh nationally in ERA, WHIP and hits allowed per seven innings, Burns is 17-4 with a 1.36 ERA and two saves, holding opponents to a .158 batting average and striking out 82 in 92.2 innings pitched.
 
Burns and the Lions will close out its nonconference regular season schedule with a  5 p.m. contest Tuesday versus Alcorn State at North Oak Park. The contest between SLU (41-11) and the visiting Lady Braves (13-30) will be sponsored by La Capitol Federal Credit Union and the first 100 fans will receive a free gift from LaCap FCU. Tuesday's contest will be shown on ESPN+. Southeastern also plans on presenting the conference regular season championship trophy prior to the game.
