HAMMOND, La. – The 2026 Southland Conference regular season champion and two-time reigning SLC Tournament champion Southeastern Louisiana University softball team closed out nonconference play with a 13-0 shutout of Alcorn State in five innings Tuesday evening at North Oak Park.
In a game that saw the Lions play every player dressed and be presented the SLC regular season trophy pregame, SLU (42-11) recorded its Division I-leading and single-season school record 19
th shutout of the season. Alcorn State fell to 13-31 overall.
Shelby Morris and
Maria Detillier led Southeastern with three hits apiece. Morris homered and drove in five runs, while Detillier plated three. Morris also scored two runs to give her 55 for the season, tying the single-season school record set by
Ka'Lyn Watson in 2024.
Watson also homered in the victory for the Lions, while
Cydnee Schneider tied a single-game school mark with two triples. Eight of SLU's 13 hits went for extra bases, as the hosts finished with three doubles, three triples and two home runs in the rout.

SLU took a 1-0 lead when Schneider tripled home Detillier in the bottom of the first inning. A three-run inside-the-park home run by Morris ignited a seven-run second inning for the Lions, as Detillier doubled home a run, then scored on a triple by Schneider. Watson lined her sixth home run of the season over the right field fence to put the Lions up, 8-0.

Breezy Pantalion in the bottom of the third inning and scored later in the frame on an RBI single by Detillier to stretch the lead to 10-0. RBI by Morris, Detillier and
Blair Walsh in the bottom of the fourth inning provided the final 13-0 margin.
Southeastern will host UIW for a Southland Conference series, sponsored by North Oaks Health System. The series opens with a 4 p.m. doubleheader Friday and concludes Saturday at noon. All three games will be televised on ESPN+.
