HAMMOND – The Southeastern Louisiana University baseball team looks to continue its best start since moving to Division I when it opens a five-game homestand on Tuesday against Jackson State in a 6 p.m. contest at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field.
The game can be heard in the Hammond area on KSLU-FM (90.9) and on the internet at www.LionSports.net. After facing Jackson State (1-4) in the first of two meetings this season, Southeastern (7-0) will remain home to host in-state rival Louisiana-Lafayette before facing Texas Southern in a three-game series beginning Friday.
Looking to win its eighth straight game to open the season, Southeastern (No. 29 in the Collegiate Baseball poll) erased a pair of two-run deficits and defeated SEC opponent Mississippi State last weekend at Dudy Noble Field.
Southeastern's previous best start since moving to Division I in 1981 occurred when the Lions opened with a 6-0 record in 1998.
