On Monday, Southeastern senior center Rachel Mackie hit two free throws with 2.5 seconds remaining to clinch a 53-49 victory at Jackson State. The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the Lady Lions.

Junior guard Kelli Jenkins led Southeastern with 10 points and four assists in the win at JSU. Junior guard Jessica Sommers (3-for-3) and senior guard Chelsea Hix (2-for-2) combined for perfect shooting from behind the arc.

Mackie pulled down a career-high tying 13 rebounds, as the Lady Lions held a 39-29 rebounding advantage over the Lady Tigers. Southeastern held JSU to 34.5 field goal shooting, as junior guard Latoria Holder keyed the Lady Lions' effort with three steals and a blocked shot.

While Southeastern does not feature a player with a double-digit scoring average, eight different Lady Lions have topped double figures in a game this season and the Lady Lion balanced attack is averaging 65.8 points per game. Senior forward Rashima Jenkins leads the team with 8.9 points per game, followed by freshman forward Aja Gibson (8.8 ppg), Kelli Jenkins (8.4 ppg), Holder (7.9 ppg) and Hix (7.4 ppg).

Kelli Jenkins leads the team and ranks fourth in the Southland with 4.6 assists per game. The Plaquemine native is ninth in school history with 253 career assists. Southeastern continues to be the most accurate shooting team in the Southland, leading the league with a 42.0 field goal percentage. Individually, Gibson and Rashima Jenkins hold down the top two spots in the Southland with 53.2 and 50.8 field goal percentages, respectively. Holder (42.4, 12th) and Kelli Jenkins (41.0, 15th) also rank among the league's most efficient shooters.

Southeastern also sits atop the conference with a plus-7.1 rebounding margin. Rashima Jenkins leads the team and is eighth in the Southland with a 7.1 per game rebounding average. Mackie has moved onto the Southland leader board, ranking 15th with 5.9 boards per outing.

Defensively, Southeastern is allowing 65.3 points per game. Holder (2.4, 6th) and senior guard Mary Fountain (2.0, 8th) both rank among the league leaders in steals. Holder, the team's most active and aggressive defender, also is 11th in the Southland with 0.9 blocks per contest.

Centenary will be looking for its first win under first-year head coach Kristen Davis, a former Northwestern State assistant coach and player. On Sunday, the Ladies were handed a 90-74 loss by Louisiana-Lafayette despite four players scoring in double figures.

Following Saturday's action, Southeastern will return home to face Louisiana-Lafayette on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the University Center. The Lady Lions will celebrate with Holiday Hoop Fest, as gifts from “Roomie” Claus will be given away and fun holiday-themed promotions will be held throughout the game.

In addition, Sommers will be the Spotlight Player of the Game and the first 100 fans will receive a trading card featuring Sommers, courtesy of the Southeastern PRIDE. Tuesday's game will be broadcast live in the Hammond area on KSLU-FM (90.9) and on the Internet at www.LionSports.net.
