HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana senior guard Kim Edmonson scored a team-high 17 points and hit a career-high tying five three-point field goals, but the Lady Lions fell to Tulane, 81-45, in the non-conference women's basketball finales for both teams Monday night in the University Center.

Southeastern fell to 6-7 overall with the loss. Tulane (11-2) ran its winning streak to nine games, forcing 23 Lady Lion turnovers.

Edmonson was the lone Lady Lion to reach double figures, as the Green Wave held Southeastern to a season-low 21.3 field goal percentage (10-for-47). Sophomore guards Kelli Jenkins and Gabrielle George dished out two assists apiece for the Lady Lions. The Lady Lions were efficient from the line, converting 76.0 percent (19-for-25) of their tries from the charity stripe, led by George (5-for-6), senior post Zevy Ivory (4-for-4) and senior wing Quantae Thomas (4-for-6).

Tulane countered with an efficient offensive effort, as the Green Wave converted on 50 percent (30-for-60) of their field goal attempts and all nine players scored. Senior guard Chassity Brown hit five-of-six three-point attempts and scored a game-high 23 points to lead three players in double figures, while junior forward Danielle Nunn and freshman guard Olivia Grayson added 15 and 12 points, respectively. Junior guard Roshaunda Barnes led the Green Wave with eight assists and four steals.

Tulane held a 39-34 rebounding advantage, behind a team-high seven rebounds by Barnes. Thomas pulled down a game-high nine boards to lead the Lady Lions.

Southeastern trailed by as many as 23 in the opening half, but Edmonson helped the Lady Lions rally to close the half within striking distance. Edmonson hit two threes and knocked down two free throws in an 8-0 run that pulled the Lady Lions within 15, 34-19, at the half.

Tulane turned up the defensive effort to start the second half, holding the Lady Lions scoreless for the first four minutes of the period. A 9-0 run to open the half put Tulane up, 43-19. Southeastern would get no closer than 21 the rest of the way.

Southeastern will open Southland Conference play on Saturday, facing Lamar at 2 p.m. in Beaumont, Texas. Saturday's game will be broadcast live in the Hammond area on KSLU-FM (90.9) and on the Internet at www.LionSports.net.
