HAMMOND – Former Southeastern Louisiana wide receiver Byron Ross was one of two players signed to a one-year contract by the Canadian Football League's Saskatchewan Roughriders in a release by the organization.
Terms were not disclosed.
Ross, a former Kentwood High product, played at Southeastern from 2003-07 and caught 75 passes for 859 yards and seven touchdowns in his career. As a senior in 2007, Ross was an honorable mention All-Southland Conference selection after finishing second on the team with 35 receptions.
Ross, who signed as a free agent with the New Orleans Saints in 2008, led the Lions with 503 receiving yards and four touchdowns on the season, highlighted by a season-high 129 yards with two touchdowns against nationally-ranked McNeese State.
Saskatchewan, which finished 12-6 last season, opens its exhibition season June 17 before beginning the regular season July 3.
