SLU Ranked 23rd, 24th in Latest FCS Polls

Saturday's 5 p.m. game at No. 2 SFA is one of three FCS matchups featuring two ranked teams this week

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University football team once again moved back into both FCS Top 25 polls released Monday.

The Lions (4-3, 2-2 SLC) returned to the rankings after a 34-31 win over then-No. 8/10 Lamar last Saturday, which was SLU's first win over a ranked opponent since 2022. Southeastern is now No. 23 in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 and ranked 24th in the AFCA FCS Coaches Top 25.

Southeastern's win over Lamar was the program's fifth over a top-10 program under ninth-year head coach Frank Scelfo.

The Southland Conference features three teams in both polls. SFA is ranked second in both polls, while Lamar fell to 15th in the coaches poll and 16th in the Stats Perform FCS poll. HCU is receiving votes in the Stats Perform poll.

Southeastern will be facing a second straight ranked opponent when it travels to face the No. 2 Lumberjacks at 5 p.m. Saturday in Nacogdoches, Texas. Saturday's game, one of three FCS matchups this week nationally featuring two ranked teams, will be televised on ESPN+ and can be heard on the Southeastern Sports Radio Network (Kajun 107.1 FM, The Highway 104.7 FM and The Boss 97.7 FM/WFPR 1400 AM).
