Joseph Named to Phil Steele FCS Midseason All-America Team

SLU playmaker is fourth nationally in punt return average (21.0)

HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana University's Dkhai Joseph represented the SLU football team on the Phil Steele FCS Midseason All-America Teams announced Friday.

Joseph was selected as a fourth-team selection at punt returner. It marked the second straight year SLU has placed student-athletes on the Phil Steele Midseason All-America teams, as Kaleb Proctor and Holden Kareokowsky represented the Lions last fall. The Reserve, Louisiana native is fourth in FCS with a 21.0 punt return average and is second nationally with two punt return touchdowns.

In addition to his prowess in the return game, Joseph doubles as the team's top receiver. He paces Southeastern with 31 receptions for 308 yards through the first six games of the season.

Joseph was part of a healthy Southland Conference representation on the midseason FCS All-America squad. SFA defensive lineman Lowote Jurkin was tabbed a first team selection.

Representing the Southland on the second team were Lamar tight end Davin Driskell and SFA defensive back Makai Frisby. Lamar offensive lineman John Hester was the league's lone third team representative. Joseph was joined on the fourth team by three fellow SLC members – SFA linebacker Malachi Williams, McNeese defensive back Mason Edwards and HCU kicker Lukasz Smolen.

Southeastern will return home to host No. 8/10 Lamar for Homecoming Saturday at 4 p.m. Saturday's game versus the Cardinals, sponsored by North Oaks Health, will be televised on ESPN+ and can be heard on the Southeastern Sports Radio Network (Kajun 107.1 FM, The Highway 104.7 FM, The Boss 97.7 FM/WFPR 1400 AM). The annual Homecoming parade is scheduled for noon.
