Spring Hill, an NAIA school that had already faced Southern Miss and South Alabama, trailed 5-4 after a bucket by Owen McNally at the 16:10 mark. That would be as close as the Badgers would get as Southeastern increased its lead to 26-8 on a 3-pointer by Hutchin with 7:35 left in the half.
The Lions, who never trailed in the contest, built a 45-22 lead at halftime and took a 55-27 lead on a three-point play by Sullivan with 18:06 remaining.
Marcus Coleman, who scored all 16 of his points in the second half, buried three 3-pointers in a 22-5 run that got the Badgers to within 60-49 with 8:32 left. But the Lions quickly pulled away as a putback by Patterson pushed the Southeastern lead to 74-53 with 4:05 left.
Nick Brown led Spring Hill with 22 points and 13 rebounds. The Badgers shot 37 percent from the floor and committed 21 turnovers.
Southeastern will return to action on Saturday when it travels to face Jackson State in a 3 p.m. contest.
