HAMMOND – The Southeastern Louisiana volleyball team will host in-state and Southland Conference rival Nicholls on Tuesday to open the final week of its home schedule at 7 p.m. in the University Center.
Tuesday's match will see Southeastern (7-15, 3-8 SLC) participate in the Dig for the Cure promotion. The match is dedicated to the fight against breast cancer.
Southeastern is still in contention for the Southland Conference Tournament, but needs to complete the season sweep of Nicholls (10-15, 4-7 SLC), who currently sits a game ahead of Southeastern in the league standings.

Southeastern broke an eight-match losing streak last Saturday, defeating Northwestern State in a five-match marathon. Junior
Allison Jones recorded a career-high 16 kills to lead the Lady Lions, while freshman
Courtney Donald and senior
Jessica Srajer recorded 14 and 12 kills, respectively, to give Southeastern a trio with double-digit kills. Senior
Katie Collins posted 54 assists in the win for Southeastern.

Taylor Buckner (1.81) are the top attackers for the Lady Lions. Collins (5.98 assists per set) and sophomore
Arianne Cruckshank (7.88) are the primary setters for Southeastern with Cruckshank ranking ninth in the Southland Conference in assists per set.
Defensively, junior
Alex Greer is fifth in the Southland with 4.01 digs per set and is followed by teammates Mayer (2.79) and Cruckshank (2.31). Senior
Julie Elliott leads the team with 42 blocks, followed by Donald (36), freshman
Alexis Braghini (35) and Srajer (31).
Nicholls' offense is led by Manieka Golden (2.77 kills per set) and Jennifer Brandt (2.65), while Amy Whitehead is among the Southland leaders with 8.68 assists per set. Danielle Daigle leads the team with 4.09 digs per set, while Jasmine Harris has a team-high 81 blocks.
Southeastern opened Southland Conference play with a 3-1 over Nicholls back on Sept. 25 in Thibodaux. Srajer (12 kills), Donald (11 kills, .526 hitting percentage) and Buckner (10 kills, 12 digs) led the Lady Lions to victory in the first meeting between the two teams.
Southeastern will close out its home schedule this week, hosting Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Friday at 7 p.m. and UTSA at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Prior to Saturday's match, Mayer, Srajer, Elliott, Collins and
Margaret Pittman will be honored in a special Senior Day ceremony.
