Southeastern Heads to UTA for Southland Match

Lady Lions look to get back on track

The Lady Lions head to UTA on Thursday at 7 p.m.
HAMMOND – The Southeastern volleyball team will return to the court on Thursday, facing UT Arlington at 7 p.m. at Texas Hall.

The Lady Lions (6-12, 2-5 SLC) will be looking to snap their five-match losing streak. UTA (7-12, 3-4 SLC) has lost four of its last five matches heading into Thursday's contest, but has a 5-3 record at home this season. Live stats from the match are available at www.utamavs.com.

Junior Allison Jones leads the team with 2.26 kills per set, followed by senior Jessica Srajer (2.18), senior Lauren Mayer (1.92) and freshman Taylor Buckner (1.90). Sophomore Arianne Cruckshank currently is ninth in the Southland with 7.71 assists per set. Cruckshank is seventh in the league with 8.78 assists per set in conference matches.

Junior Alex Greer paces the squad and ranks fourth in the Southland with 3.77 digs per set. In conference matches, she is fifth in the league with 4.19 digs per set, while Mayer is averaging 3.26 digs per set (ninth in the Southland) versus league opposition.

Senior Julie Elliott and freshman Alexis Braghini lead the team with 32 blocks each, followed by Srajer and freshman Courtney Donald with 24 blocks apiece. Elliott is sixth in the Southland with 1.12 blocks per set in league play.

Tara Frantz leads UTA with 2.66 kills per set, followed by Bianca Sauls with 2.22 kills per set. Raegan Daniel leads the Mavs with 8.25 assists per set, while Alicia Shaffer is atop the squad with 3.35 digs per set. Emily Shearin leads UTA with 63 blocks on the year.

In last season's meeting, Srajer finished with 14 kills in a 25-14, 25-13, 28-26 Southeastern win. Cruckshank had 37 assists, while Greer led the way with nine digs in last season's victory.

Following Thursday's match, Southeastern will remain on the road for a Saturday contest at Texas State. First serve in San Marcos, Texas is set for 2 p.m.
