Gibson was a top performer for a Lady Lion squad that just completed the winningest season in program annals. The 2018 SLU softball team recorded a 38-21 overall mark and an 18-9 conference record on the way to a school-best second-place finish in the league standings.
Gibson was named second team All-Louisiana, third team All-Southland Conference and Southland All-Tournament in her senior season. The Hattiesburg, Mississippi native set a new single-season school record with 59 runs batted in and ranked among the league leaders with a .319 batting average, a .599 slugging percentage, 12 home runs, 11 doubles, 32 runs and 58 hits.

A strong performer in the classroom, she was also a Southland All-Academic selection. The kinesiology major finished with a 3.22 grade point average after a successful two-year SLU career out of East Central (Miss.) Community College.
Gibson is only the second softball student-athlete to claim the award. She joins former Lady Lion Katie Duhe, who took home the honor following the 2010-11 season.
