Biography

After earning his undergraduate degree from Texas Christian University, Mitchell transferred to Southeastern to compete during his final season of eligibility.

2009 Outdoor (Senior): Mitchell garnered first-place honors in the 100 meters at the 2009 Mountain West Conference Outdoor Championships with a personal-best time of 10.26 seconds ... Competed in the 100 meters at the NCAA Championships, going into nationals with the No. 20 ranked time in the NCAA in the event ... Also placed sixth overall at the MWC Outdoor Championships in the 200 with a time of 21.22 seconds ... Helped the men’s 4x100 win the conference championship with a seasonal-best time of 39.42 seconds ... Also led the quartet to a first-place showing at the Texas Tech Invite ... Ran the anchor leg on the 4x100 squad that finished third overall at the Midwest Regional.

2009 Indoor (Junior): Won the MWC 60-meter title for the second-consecutive season during the indoor season with a time of 6.81 seconds.

2008 Outdoor (Junior):
Was part of the men’s 4x100 unit consisting of Justyn Warner, Mychal Dungey, Mitchell and Otis McDaniel who earned All-America honors by crossing the finish line in seventh-place with a time of 39.60 seconds ... Mitchell, who competed in both the 100 meters and the 4x100 at national, collected a seasonal best time of 10.30 seconds at the Midwest Regional in the 100 meters to place fourth overall ... The nation’s No. 21 ranked sprinter made his first apperance at the NCAA Championships in a Flyin’ Frog uniform ... Mitchell earned all-conference honors in the event after finishing in third-place with a time of 10.55 at the MWC Championships ... Also competed in the 200 meters, placing fourth at the Mountain West Conference Outdoor Championships ... Was a key component on both the sprint medley and 4x100 units that ranked in the top-10 of the world standings for most of the outdoor season ... In the college men’s 4x100 at the Penn Relays, the unit clocked a regional qualifying time of 40.25 to finish second overall in the event ... The unit which consisted of Mitchell, Otis McDaniel, Justyn Warner and Mychal Dungey clocked the sixth fastest collegiate time during spring at the Texas Relays in a field that included the likes of Tyson Gay and several other world-class Olympic athletes ... The unit, who’s time was ranked in the top 15 in the world, recorded a seasonal best time of 39.70 seconds to finish fourth overall.

2008 Indoor (Sophomore): Won the MWC indoor championship in the 60 meters with a personal-best time of 6.70 seconds ... Overall, placed first in the 60 meters at the Arkansas Invitational.

Prior to TCU: Mitchell transferred to TCU following an All-America career at Central Arizona College ... Was ranked No. 3 in the nation in the 100 meters during the 2005 indoor season ... finished as the school record holder in the 100, 200 and 400 meters .. posted personal records of 10.50 in the 100 meters, while also running 21.40 in the 200 meters ... Mitchell also competed for the Grenada national and junior squad from 2002-2005.
