Biography

2008 (Junior): Named to the 2008 All-Southland Conference Third Team ... Named to the 2008 South Central Region Second Team by the American Baseball Coaches Association and to the All-Louisiana Second Team by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association ... Led the team in batting (.342), slugging percentage (.542), runs (57), hits (82), RBI (60), doubles (20), home runs (8), total bases (130) and stolen bases (10) and was one of only three Lions (including Brandon Street and Casey Summerlin) to start all 59 games ... Collected 29 multi-hit games including one four-hit game and five three-hit games ... Turned in a season-best 11-game hitting streak by hitting .391 (18-for-46) with eight doubles, 16 RBI and 17 runs scored ... Notched his first home run of the season as part of a 3-for-5 night with four RBI and one run scored in a Lion win over the Green Wave ... Went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored in Southeastern's win at LSU on March 11 ... Homered in consecutive games at McNeese State on March 30 and against Jackson State on April 1 ... Went 3-for-5 with a home run, three RBI and three runs scored in a Lion win at Texas-Arlington on April 19 ... Homered in consecutive contests against Central Arkansas on April 27 and against Southern Miss on April 30 ... Went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles, two RBI and two runs scored in a comeback win over Texas-Arlington at the 2008 Southland Conference Tournament on May 22.

2007 (Sophomore): Started 54 games in the 2007 season ... Was second on the team with a .351 BA (68 H/ 194 AB) ... Finished second on the squad in on-base percentage at .431 ... Was hit-by-pitch 15 times to lead the team ... Posted 23 multi-hit games including one four-hit game and four three-hit games ... Logged a season-high 16-game hitting streak from April 20-May 19, hitting .400 (26-for-65) with 11 RBI, 16 runs scored and nine multi-hit games over the stretch ... Also posted a 13-game hitting streak from March 9-March 28, going 23-for-52 (.442 BA) with 5 RBI, 12 runs scored and eight multi-hit games ... Had a streak-within-a-streak by posting six consecutive multi-hit games from March 9-March 17, hitting .520 (13-for-25) ... Drove in a season-high three runs by going 2-for-2 at Mississippi Valley State on May 2 ... Went 4-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI at Texas State on April 15 ... Notched his first home run of the season on Feb. 24 at Southern to go along with a 3-for-5 day with two doubles, two RBI and two runs scored ... Picked up his second homer of the season and went 3-for-5 with a pair of runs scored at Southern Miss on March 13 ... Led the Lions by hitting .376 (44 H/ 117 AB) against Southland Conference competition.

2006 (Freshman): Hit .295 in 44 games (38 starts) as a freshman ... Saw most of his playing time in right field where he logged 25 starts ... Also started at third base, shortstop, center field and designated hitter ... Hit two-run, pinch-hit double in first career at-bat in helping Southeastern to 6-4 win in series finale at Stetson ... Went 3-for-3 with four RBI against Southeast Missouri ... Went 4-for-5 with a double and a run scored at Stephen F. Austin ... Posted season-high, five-game hitting streak where he went 9-for-21 (.429) ... Went 5-for-12 with two doubles and three RBI in three-game series against Texas-San Antonio ... Went 2-for-5 with a run scored against LSU.

Prior to Southeastern-

High School: Was a two-time Class 4A First Team All-State selection at Vancleave High School where he helped the Bulldogs to a 22-4 record and a berth in the South State semifinals his senior year … Led VHS to a 28-5 record as a junior, hitting .394 at the plate … A three-time All-District, All-Area and All-Coast selection … A two-time MVP and Silver Slugger (2004-05), and Rookie of the Year (2003) at VHS.

Personal: Born October 6, 1986 in Pascagoula, Miss. to Mike and Sandy Summerlin … Has one brother, Casey (21) and one sister, Kady (17) … Brother, Casey, is a teammate on the 2007 squad … Father was a four-year letterwinner in baseball at Ole Miss (1978-81) and holds the schools' single game records for stolen bases (5) and runs scored (5).
