PINEVILLE, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's tennis team began its spring road schedule with a 6-1 victory over Louisiana Christian University Saturday afternoon at the Richard L. Crowell Tennis Center.
Southeastern (2-0) swept all three doubles and took five of six singles matches to remain undefeated in 2026. The host Wildcats fell to 0-2 overall.
"I was really happy with our attitude and effort today against a well-coached LCU team," SLU head coach
Jason Hayes commented. "It's always tough to play on the road, but we maintained our focus and I'm very excited about our team moving forward."
In doubles play, SLU's No. 1 duo of
Paige Duncan and
Bente Bierma (1-1) earned its first win of the spring, defeating Farren Allysia Sandy and Elizaveta Mikhailova, 6-3. Southeastern's No. 2 pair of
Taisia Bolsova and
Aitana Darder (2-0) claimed a 6-2 win, as did Lion freshmen
Mariam Tetradze and
Adriana Tirado (2-0) on court 3.
Duncan (No. 5), Tetradze (No. 4) and Tirado (No. 6) each improved to 2-0 with straight-set singles victories.
Mariam Makashvili (2-0) also remained unbeaten with a 4-6, 6-1, 10-0 win over Valeria Callejo on court 3, while SLU's
Panatchakorn Suanarsa (1-1) earned her first singles victory of the spring with a 6-3, 6-3 win on No. 1.
Saturday's match was the first of four matches in a four-day span for Southeastern. The Lions will host Southern Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
