FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's tennis team suffered its first loss of the spring Monday, dropping a 4-0 decision to Florida Gulf Coast at the FGCU Tennis Complex.
Southeastern fell to 6-1 overall with the loss. FGCU improved to 6-2 this spring, winning two doubles matches and three singles matches to secure the victory.
"I was so proud of the attitude our team displayed on the court today," Southeastern head coach
Jason Hayes said. "We played our best match of the spring against a quality opponent and this will give us confidence heading into Southland Conference play."
FGCU took the early lead in doubles play, winning on courts 2 and 3. In singles play, the hosts secured the win with straight-set victories on courts 1,3 and 5. Lions

Mariam Tetradze (No. 4) were in the midst of the third set on their respective courts when the match was decided.
Southeastern will return to action Saturday, hosting Chattanooga at 10 a.m. at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
