Lions Claim Two Victories to Remain Unbeaten

SLU (5-0) earns 7-0 wins over Alcorn State and Copiah-Lincoln CC

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's tennis team improved to 5-0 this spring with 7-0 victories over Alcorn State and Copiah-Lincoln Community College Tuesday afternoon at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.

"It was good to get these two wins today and I was pleased with how we responded to the physical demands of playing two matches in one day," Southeastern head tennis coach Jason Hayes commented. "We're still dealing with some injuries and we'll need to get fully healthy by the time we reach conference play. But on the plus side, we're getting everyone valuable experience."

In doubles play Tuesday, Taisia Bolsova and Aitana Darder (4-1) picked up a pair of victories. Mariam Tetradze and Adriana Tirado (4-0), as well as the pair of Bente Bierma and Panatchakorn Suanarsa (1-0) each also earned wins for SLU.

Suanarsa (3-1), Tetradze (4-0) and Adriana Tirado (5-0) each earned two straight-set singles victories. Mariam Makashvili (4-0), Paige Duncan (4-0), Bolsova (2-0) and Bente Bierma (1-1) each also claimed wins, as did newcomer Anicka Panchartek (1-0), who posted a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Copiah-Lincoln's Ella Thompson in her Lion debut.

Southeastern will return to action Friday, traveling to St. Petersburg College for a 2 p.m. (CST) nonconference match.
