MOBILE, Ala. – The two-time reigning Southland Conference champion Southeastern Louisiana University volleyball team closed out play at the Jaguar Invitational with a 25-19, 25-15, 22-25, 25-14 loss to Tulane Friday afternoon at Jaguar Gymnasium.
Southeastern (5-2) dropped its second consecutive match in Mobile, while Tulane improved to 5-2 overall with the victory.
Kyra McKelvey led the way for the Lady Lions with 16 kills, while
Ashley Richardson was tops on the team with 22 assists.
India Bennett continued her strong start to the 2025 season with six blocks, while
Lexi Gonzalez chipped in with a match-high 21 digs.
Tulane's Avery Burks carried the day for the Green Wave, posting 21 kills, while Lauryn Mack and Sabrina Skyers finished with 10 kills apiece. Zoe Rachow posted a double-double for TU with 49 assists and 13 digs, while Dayla Oritz finished with a team-high 20 digs for Tulane.
After falling in an early two-set hole, Southeastern played its best volleyball of the day in the third set. McKelvey posted six of her kills in a 25-22 set that allowed the Lady Lions to avoid the sweep.
Tulane turned the tides in the fourth set to close out the victory. The Green Wave hit a blistering .381 in the final set, closing out the match, 25-14. Southeastern finished the match with a .141 attack percentage, which TU countered by hitting .255.
Southeastern will continue its road swing Sunday with a 2 p.m. match at LSU. Sunday's match can be seen on SEC Network+.
