NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Jude Hall and
TJ Salvaggio homered Sunday to help lead the Southeastern Louisiana University baseball team to a 10-0 win at Stephen F. Austin to finish off a sweep of the Southland Conference series at Jaycees Field.
Southeastern (16-3, 6-0 SLC), which swept its fourth overall series of the season, remains atop the conference standings.
The Lions left little doubt the outcome of the game when they broke through against SFA (7-13, 2-7 SLC) in the fourth inning. Salvaggio led off with a solo shot, sparking an eight-run rally. It was his fifth of the season.
Peyton Woods drove in a pair with a two-run single and Hall launched a two-run home run before SLU received consecutive run-scoring singles from
Ryan Brome, Salvaggio and
Conner O'Neal. In all, the Lions sent 13 batters to the plate.
Hall added to his home run total in the fifth, launching a solo shot with one out. The senior from Chilliwack, British Columbia enjoyed his second multi-homer game of the season, running his season total to five.
SLU picked up its final run in the seventh. Hall went the opposite way for a two-out double, scoring one batter later on
Giovanni Licciardi's RBI single.
Right-handers
Blake Lobell and
Aiden Vosburg combined to toss the shutout. Lobell (2-0) earned the win, scattering three hits in 5.0 innings pitched, striking out four batters. Vosburg retired all six batters he faced to close out the game, striking out one.
Lumberjack starting pitcher Hayden Tronson (0-4) suffered the loss, allowing eight runs – seven earned – in 3.1 innings of work. He surrendered 11 hits and one walk, striking out one.
Southeastern pounded out 14 total hits with five players – Hall (3-for-4), Brome (2-for-5), O'Neal (2-for-4), Salvaggio (2-for-4) and
