HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University baseball team extended its longest winning streak of the season to six games Wednesday, defeating the Ragin' Cajuns of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, 7-1, in non-conference action at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field.
Ben Robichaux,
Ryan Brome and
TJ Salvaggio all blasted home runs for Southeastern (17-3) as the Lions are now halfway to last season's home run total (86), the program's single-season record.
Robichaux started the homer parade in the second inning against the Ragin' Cajuns (9-13), launching a two-run homer to deep right-center field. It was his fourth of the season. Three batters later, Brome knocked his Southland Conference-leading 10
th home run of the season. The two-run blast staked the Lions to a 4-0 lead.
SLU pitchers
Luke Lirette and
Luke Barbier made the run support hold up until a pair of RBI singles by
Dane Watts and Brome added to the Lion lead.
The teams traded solo home runs in the eighth with Ragin' Cajun left fielder Conor Higgs spoiling the shutout bid, knocking his team-leading seventh homer of the season with two outs.
Salvaggio answered with two outs in the bottom of the inning, homering for the third straight game. The solo shot was his sixth of the season and fifth in the last seven games. He is the first Lion to homer in three straight since Preston Faulkner accomplished the feat during the 2022 Southland Conference Baseball Tournament, May 20-21, against Houston Baptist, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and New Orleans.
Lirette (1-1) picks up the win, tossing a pair of scoreless innings. He walked one, struck out two and did not give up a hit. Aidan Grip (0-1) suffered the loss for the Ragin' Cajuns, allowing four runs – all earned – in 1.2 innings pitched.

Luke Barbier (4.0 IP) and
Truitt Webb (1.0 IP).
