Southeastern Sweeps McNeese to Close Regular Season

SLU (20-8, 12-4 SLC) clinches fourth straight 20-win season in regular season finale

LAKE CHARLES, La. – The two-time reigning Southland Conference regular season champion Southeastern Louisiana University indoor volleyball team wrapped up the 2025 regular season with a convincing 25-15, 25-10, 25-22 victory over league foe McNeese Thursday evening in Townsley Law Arena.

With the win, Southeastern (20-8, 12-4 SLC) clinched its fourth consecutive 20-win season. The streak is the longest for the Lady Lions since the program posted five straight campaigns of 20 or more wins from 1992-96. McNeese ended its season 8-20 overall and 4-12 in conference play.

Southeastern posted a .364 hitting percentage in the sweep of the Cowgirls. Fresh off a career-high 21-kill performance in Tuesday's 3-1 win at Nicholls, India Bennett again paced SLU with a match-high 14 kills to go with a team-high four blocks.

Kyra McKelvey added eight kills, while Alexis Logarbo and Ainsley Driska added seven kills apiece to fuel a balanced Lady Lion attack. Ashley Richardson and Peyton Stokley contributed 20 and 15 assists, respectively.

Bennett and Logarbo (three) were the block leaders for SLU. Audrey Vielguth contributed 13 digs, while Lily Morgan added 12.

D'Nari Mills and Kayla Wilson led McNeese with eight kills each, while Kinga Ziolkowska and Corynne Hausler finished with 11 assists apiece.

Southeastern shook off an early deficit in the opening set, as Bennett and Driska shared team-high honors with four first-set kills. SLU was dominant in set two, hitting .483 and holding the Cowgirls to a -.029 hitting percentage to take a commanding 2-0 lead.

The Lady Lions were poised to run away with set three to complete the sweep, but McNeese used an 8-1 run to cut SLU's advantage to 23-22. A kill by Carissa Young followed by a Ziolkowska error closed out the win for Southeastern.

The majority of the Southland Conference will close out the regular season Saturday and those results will determine SLU's first round opponent in the league tournament. The SLC Tournament will run next Friday through Sunday in Commerce, Texas with all tournament matches airing on ESPN+.

The winner of the SLC Tournament title will earn the conference's automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament. Southeastern will be looking for its third bid in the NCAA Championships, having previously represented the league in 2022 and 2023.
