MIAMI, Fla. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's soccer team fell 6-1 to FIU on the road Saturday morning to close out its two-game road swing in Florida.
Southeastern (1-3-1) came out to a slow start to allow FIU (4-3) to gain an early advantage, but gained a spark late in the second half to avoid the shutout. SLU goalkeeper

Senior forward
Hannah McCord earned her first goal of the season to put the Lady Lions on the board in the second half. McCord found the net in the 83
rd minute of the contest to secure Southeastern's sixth goal of the season.
FIU came out aggressive to gain the upper hand midway in the first half. Junior Elizabeth Rapp broke free in the 18
th minute off an assist from Brealyn Viamille to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead.
SLU's backline battled to contain FUI for the remainder of the first half to stop any further advances before the halftime break. The Panthers closed the half with 12 shots and five corner kick opportunities.
FIU returned from halftime to extend its lead 2-0 as senior Raegan Bridges claimed her first goal of the season in the 58
th minute of the match. Bridges connected on goal after a foul from the Lady Lions resulted in a penalty kick. FIU stayed on the attack and scored its third goal of the contest by Arianna Sparrow.
The Panther's leading scorer Nikole Solis secured her fourth goal of the season with another penalty kick awarded minutes later. Sparrow broke free in the 79
th minute with her second goal of the half to earn FIU a 5-0 lead over Southeastern.
The Lady Lions gained its first goal of the match off a penalty kick scored by McCord that soared past FIU goalkeeper Valery Restrepo. SLU finished with four shots in the second half alone and four shots on goal to end the contest.
FIU would seal the win with a penalty kick in the 84
th minute as Solis sent a shot past Blankenship to give Solis her second goal of the match. Solis continues to lead FIU with five goals this season. The Panthers ended with 26 shots, 10 corner kicks and 16 shots on goal. FIU goalkeepers Odaliana Gomez and Valery Restrepo split responsibility in the net to finish with three saves.
SLU would get no closer as FIU continued to gain all the momentum in the second half.
Southeastern will close out its non conference schedule in Stephenville, Texas against Tarleton State Thursday, Sept. 19 at 11 a.m. The match against Tarleton State will be streamed on ESPN+.
