LORMAN, Miss. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's tennis team closed out its regular season nonconference schedule with a 7-0 road win at Alcorn State Monday afternoon.

SLU (9-8) took down the Lady Braves (6-14), who only had five available players. The Lions opened a busy week with the win, as Southeastern hosts Nicholls (9-13, 1-5 SLC) Wednesday at noon, before traveling to Northwestern State (10-8, 2-3 SLC) for a 1 p.m. match Thursday at 1 p.m.

In doubles play, Flory Bierma and Putri Insani (11-4) defeated the Alcorn duo of Aizat Zholdakayeva and Jaime Edwards, 6-2, on the No. 1 court. A default win on court 3 gave Southeastern a 1-0 lead.

Alcorn State only had four players available for singles, as SLU took a 3-0 lead with default victories on courts 5 and 6. On No. 1, Insani (11-4) moved past Zholdakayeva, 6-0, 6-1.

On court 2, Gabrielle Dekkers (8-6) was too much for Kimberly Kaome, 6-3, 6-4. Alba Perez (7-8) earned her second straight singles win on No. 4, cruising past Nicole Kells, 6-0, 6-1. Bierma (7-8) closed out the shutout by outlasting Edwards, 6-3, 0-6, 10-6, on court 3.

Southeastern will play Nicholls Wednesday in its final home match of the spring. Carla Bouygyes leads the Colonels with a 13-7 singles record. Bouygues and Dareen Hassan have a team-best six doubles victories.

Tjasa Klevisar (13-4, 4-1 SLC) leads Thursday's opponent, Northwestern State. Dorota Szczygielska and Renske Ubachs boast a team-best 8-5 doubles record for the Lady Demons.
