HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University softball team opened its Southland Conference series with HBU with a doubleheader sweep of the Huskies Friday evening at North Oak Park.
SLU (32-12, 9-2 SLC) extended its win streak to six games with the two wins over the Huskies (12-25, 2-11 SLC). Southeastern opened the day with a 5-0 shutout victory, before closing out the sweep with a 14-6 win in the nightcap.
Heather Zumo (15-3) and
Ellie DuBois combined to hold the Huskies to two hits in the opener.
Aeriyl Mass and
Cam Goodman had three hits apiece for the Lady Lions, while
Maddie Watson drove in three runs with a three-run triple.
The Lady Lions used a nine-run second inning and racked up a season-high 16 hits in the nightcap. Mass, Goodman, Watson and
Lexi Johnson all had three hits apiece. Johnson tied a single-game school record with two triples, while Watson homered and drove in a team-high five runs.
KK Ladner (6-2) earned the win in the circle for SLU.
The series wraps with a noon contest Saturday at North Oak Park. The game will be televised live on ESPN+.
