HAMMOND, La. – The reigning Southland Conference regular season champion Southeastern Louisiana University softball team will open its fall season Thursday, hosting Pearl River Community College for a 10-inning exhibition at 5 p.m. at North Oak Park.
The fall opener was originally scheduled for Friday at 5 p.m., but was moved up a day due to expected inclement weather in the Hammond area.
Thursday will provide the first glimpse at the Lions under first-year head coach
Trent Partridge. The 2027 Southeastern roster features 10 newcomers, while the All-Southland Conference trio of
Chloe Magee,
Brilee Ford and
Shelby Morris headlines a group of 12 returning veterans from last season's 46-16 squad which advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the third straight season.
Thursday's exhibition is the first of seven this fall for SLU. The Lions will host Jones College (Oct. 7), East Central Community College (Oct. 16), Copiah-Lincoln Community College (Oct. 21), Baton Rouge Community College (Oct. 23), LSU Eunice (Oct. 28) and Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (Oct. 30). All exhibitions will be at North Oak Park, will be 10-innings in length and are set for 5 p.m.
