HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's tennis team opened its final Southland Conference home week with a 7-0 loss to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Friday afternoon at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
SLU fell to 1-13 overall and 0-3 in Southland Conference play. The Islanders ran their record to 16-2 overall and 2-0 in league action.
In doubles play, the No. 1 SLU pairing of
Putri Insani and
Flory Bierma kept their unbeaten streak alive, as they were deadlocked with the TAMU-CC pairing of Mariya Shumeika and Camille Townsend, 4-4, when the doubles point was decided. The Islanders won on courts 2 and 3 to take the 1-0 lead.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi clinched the victory with straight-set victories on all six singles courts. On No. 1, Insani saw her four-match singles win streak snapped with a 6-4, 7-5 loss to Emma Aucagne.
Southeastern closes out its home conference schedule with an 11 a.m. match Sunday versus UIW.
