CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Career days from Kailin Newsome, Sam Gomez and Ariana Hebert helped Southeastern Louisiana to a reverse sweep Saturday, 15-21, 21-25, 25-23, 25-23, 15-13, after dropping the first two sets to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at the Dugan Wellness Center.
 
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (6-2, 4-2 Southland) entered the match in second place in the conference standings.
 
Newsome turned in her third consecutive double-double, recording career highs in kills (26) and digs (16), while Gomez tallied a career-best 19 kills. Crispin Adams (six total blocks), Ariana Hebert (27 assists, 13 digs) and Ansley Tullis (22 digs, eight assists) all either set or tied career highs as well for Southeastern (5-3, 3-2 Southland).
 
Already down two sets to none, the Lady Lions fell behind 4-0 in the third set before fighting back. Newsome proved to be a driving force, recording 10 of her 26 kills in the set.
 
Adams recorded half of her blocks in the fourth set, helping out a well-rounded offensive effort that saw six different attackers record kills.
 
Gomez took over in the fifth and final set, picking up four kills and a pair of blocks as the Lady Lions secured a huge win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
 
In addition to Newsome's double-double, Hebert recorded her second in as many matches.

Fans are asked to maintain a minimum distance of six feet from others, wear a face covering over both their nose and mouth, and wash their hands frequently. Hand sanitizing stations are located throughout Southeastern's athletic facilities.
 
While tailgating is currently prohibited, current health and safety guidelines set forth by state and local officials due to the COVID-19 pandemic allow for 25 percent capacity at athletic events. Capacity will be adjusted as state guidelines allow.
