HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana women's basketball team will close the 2019-20 regular season on Saturday, facing New Orleans at 4 p.m. in Lakefront Arena.

The game between the Lady Lions (12-16, 9-10 Southland) and the host Privateers (16-12, 12-7 Southland) can be heard in the Hammond area on KSLU-FM (90.9), online at www.LionSports.net/listenlive and via the TuneIn Radio and Lions Game Day Experience apps.

Southeastern enters Saturday's regular season finale having already secured a berth in the Southland Conference Tournament, marking SLU's first postseason appearance since the 2011-12 season. If the Lady Lions lose on Saturday or UIW wins, SLU will take on New Orleans in one of Thursday's first round games at the Merrell Center.

The Lady Lions could never get going offensively on Wednesday, when they fell to Central Arkansas, 54-47. Morgan Carrier tied a career high with 20 points in the loss, while Caitlyn Williams grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.

Southeastern is led in scoring by Celica Sterling, who is seventh in the Southland with 13.9 points per game. Jyar Francis (9.5 ppg), Alexius Horne (9.5 ppg), Carrier (8.2 ppg), Williams (7.5 ppg) and Charliee Dugas (7.2 ppg) are the other top scorers for the Lady Lions. Last Wednesday, Dugas became the 21st player in program history to reach 1,000 career points and heads to New Orleans with 1,017 points.

Horne, who has missed the last two games with an injury, ranks third in the Southland with 3.8 assists per game. Tyler Morrison comes into Saturday's game ranked ninth in school history with 276 career assists.

Sterling (62, 5th) and Carrier (44, 14th) are among the Southland Conference leaders in three-point field goals made. Sterling ranks among the school's all-time leaders with 128 career three-point field goals made (5th), 342 three-point field goals made (7th) and a 37.4 three-point field goal percentage (3rd).

Williams is currently ninth in the league with 6.6 rebounds per game. The Brusly, Louisiana native is 12th in school history with 568 career rebounds.

Southeastern has held six opponents under 50 points this season, yielding 62.0 points and forcing 17.0 turnovers per contest. Horne is 10th in the Southland with 1.9 steals per contest, while Morrison (150, 8th) and Dugas (147, 9th) are in the program's career top 10 in steals.

Williams is eighth in the league with 1.2 blocked shots per contest. Her 75 career blocked shots are good for eighth in school history.

New Orleans has secured the No. 5 seed in next week's Southland Conference Tournament, no matter Saturday's result. In Rehema Franklin (13.7 ppg) and Asia Woods (11.8 ppg, 17th), the Privateers feature two of the Southland's top 20 scorers.

Woods also ranks fourth in the league with a team-high 7.9 rebounds per game. Defensively, Franklin ranks eighth in the Southland in steals, while Whitley Larry's 1.6 blocks per game have her third on the conference leaderboard.

Southeastern is 22-26 versus its in-state conference rival. The Lady Lions are looking for its first season sweep of the Privateers since the 2013-14 campaign, which also marks the last time SLU won in New Orleans.

Back on Feb. 1, SLU earned a 73-57 win over New Orleans in the University Center. Francis and Carrier had 19 points apiece to lead the Lady Lions, while Williams narrowly missed a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds. Woods led UNO with 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Dionjhae Thomas chipped in 12 points in the Privateer loss.
