Southeastern Volleyball Wraps 2020 Recruiting Class

3/19/2020 3:15:00 PM

HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana coach Jeremy White announced the completion of the 2020 volleyball recruiting class Thursday, adding three more student-athletes to the previously announced fall signees.

Joining the Southeastern program are Calli Collins of Alleyton, Texas, Kennedi George of New Orleans, Louisiana and Linsey Sackett of League City, Texas.

"We really wanted to add a middle to the class," White said. "Kennedi brings some physicality to us. She is a 10-foot type kid with a big block at the net and will be great to develop offensively. With Calli we wanted someone to fill a setter-defensive specialist role, someone that could come in and be a third setter. She's got a great ability to set and has done it a lot from the libero position. That brings us two elements.

"We're also continually trying to grow our beach roster with student-athletes that are training year-round for the sport," White said. "Linsey fits the mold of a physical defender, something that is difficult to train if you're only working on it half the year."

Collins earned second-team all-state honors in 6A as a senior setter after helping lead St. John XXIII College Prep to a 26-8 record.

"Calli brings a lot of experience," White said. "She is really fast and earned all-state honors in softball three times. That brings a level of athleticism to our game as both a defensive specialist and third setter option."

A member of The Advocate's All-Metro team as a senior, George helped lead Ben Franklin to a 41-7 record and an appearance in the state championship match. She finished the season with 622 kills, 416 digs, 185 blocks and 65 aces.

"Kennedi is a great student-athlete and brings a lot of athleticism to us," White said. "She has an extremely quick arm, big jump-touch and will give us some physicality at the net."

During her senior season at Clear Springs High School, Sackett recorded 40 service aces (0.3 per set), 376 digs (2.9 per set) and 14 assists (0.1 per set) on the indoor court.

"Linsey is a dynamic defender," White said. "She is extremely athletic, physical for her size and gives us the ability to side-out regularly."
