Kyra McKelvey Claims AVCA All-America Honorable Mention

Southeastern's McKelvey added another award to her 2025 season Wednesday

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University volleyball team was recognized by the American Volleyball Coaches Association on its All-America list Wednesday, when junior Kyra McKelvey was named a 2025 AVCA Division I All-America Honorable Mention.
 
After adding an AVCA All-Central Region Honorable Mention last week, the Navarre, Fla., native added another accolade to her 2025 season. The Southland Conference Player of the Year and SLC First Team honoree was included among the nation's best volleyball student-athletes. Before McKelvey, Cicily Hidalgo was the latest Lady Lion to receive an All-America Honorable Mention in 2024.
 
In 2025, McKelvey's play led the Lady Lions to a 20-9 overall record with a 12-4 record in SLC competition. The junior was among the top players in the Southland Conference, ending the 2025 season with the third-highest hitting percentage (.340) in the league. She was also the most productive on the offensive side for the Lady Lions with the opposite hitter ranking fourth among SLC players in kills per set (3.64) for a total of 368 kills.
 
During the 2025 season, McKelvey was a consistent force for SLU, tallying double-digit kills in 22 of the team's 29 games during the 2025 season She also tied a career-high of 21 kills in Southeastern's match against Central Arkansas on Sept. 6.
