RENO, Nev. – Riccardo Klotz,
Adam Pennington,
Thais Gomes and
Lara Zupanc will participate in the National Pole Vault Summit Friday and Saturday at the Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center.
Klotz, a sophomore, finished fourth in the pole vault at the 2019 Southland Indoor Championships. The Scharnitz, Austria native set a personal best in the event with a mark of 17 feet, 4.5 inches (5.30m).
Pennington, a senior, will be competing in his 18
th all-time event for SLU in the pole vault. A Madisonville, Louisiana product, Pennington has a personal of 15-5.5 (4.71m) he set at the Strawberry Relays March 2, 2019 in Hammond, Louisiana.
On the women's side, Gomes will be looking to establish herself in the conference. The junior from Porto Alegre, Brazil won two national championships in the pole vault at Cowley Community College in Kansas. Zupanc, out of Slovenia, will be making her collegiate debut.
The NPVS is a grassroots developmental clinic established and continued to promote safety and encourage the advancement of Pole Vaulting at all levels through constant education. The Summit structure is designed to meet the needs of all ability levels including athlete, coaches, and parent break-out sessions.
The event features over two dozen staff members with some of the top pole vault credentials in the country to assist high school and college athletes in raising the bar.
