FRISCO, Texas – The Southeastern Louisiana University men's and women's track & field teams were honored by the Southland Conference Friday, when the league office announced 10 SLU student-athletes had been named to the SLC All-Academic Teams.
On the women's side,
Ava Pitarro,
Breanna Becerra,
Kallie Calvaruso,
Onyah Favour, and
Miriam Kauer each earned spots on the team after success on the track and in the classroom.
Pitarro earned All-Academic status with a 4.0 cumulative GPA. The junior distance runner posted back-to-back first-place finishes in the 1,500-meter run, winning at the Pelican Relays (5:05.07) and the Strawberry Relays (4:59.54).
Becerra was placed on the All-Academic Team after the senior ended her college career with a 3.65 cumulative GPA. The Robert, La. native also placed third in the 4x400-meter relay at the Southland Conference Outdoor Championships with Favour, Kauer, and
Zoe Wilson, setting a school record time of 3:39.17. The physics major Kauer ended 2026 with success in the classroom, achieving a 4.0 cumulative GPA. Kauer also won the 800-meter run at the Pelican Relays, earning a personal-best time of 2:16.42.
Calvaruso was recognized by the conference after achieving a 3.29 cumulative GPA. The Denham Springs, La. native notched a season-best high jump of 1.55 meters in 2026.
With a 3.34 cumulative GPA, Favour adds an All-Academic accolade to her excellent 2026 season. After setting Southland Conference and school records in the 400-meter dash (50.25), the junior has made it all the way to the NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore. Favour achieved All-Conference awards in both indoor and outdoor track in 2026, winning golds in the 200-meter dash, and silvers in the 400-meter dash, joining Becerra and Kauer with a bronze finish in the 4x400-meter outdoor relay.
On the men's side,
Gerrit Visser,
Micah Miller,
Trey Faherty,
Daniel Atinaya, and
Josh-Ty Brown. Visser qualified for the NCAA East First Round after earning silver at the SLC Outdoor Championships. Also earning a 3.43 cumulative GPA, the senior competed in the hammer throw at the East First Round in Lexington, Ky.
Micah Miller and
Trey Faherty notched spots on the All-Academic Team with 3.39 and 3.40 cumulative GPAs, respectively. Miller placed fifth at the SLC Outdoor Championships, reaching a career-best discus throw of 51.47 meters (168'10"). Faherty also posted a personal-best mark in the pole vault (4.60 meters, 15'1"), placing third at the 2026 LA Classic in Lafayette, La.
On the track, Atinaya ended his season strong with a personal-best time of 46.84 seconds in the 400-meter dash. Atinaya also performed well in the classroom, recording a 3.26 cumulative GPA.
After winning a shot-put gold at the SLC Championships and qualifying for the NCAA East First Round, Brown earns a place on the Southland All-Academic Team with a 3.28 cumulative GPA. The Kingston, Jamaica native sent the shot for a career-best 18.01 meters (59'1.25") to solidify his place in the NCAA postseason.
Favour's season will end Saturday night in the 400-meter dash finals of the NCAA Outdoor National Championships, beginning at 6:02 p.m. PDT (8:02 p.m. CDT). The NCAA Outdoor National Championships are televised on ESPN2, starting at 7 p.m. CDT.
