KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Southeastern Louisiana women's soccer team opens the road portion of their schedule when they face the Tennessee Lady Vols Thursday night at 7 p.m. at Regal Soccer Stadium in Knoxville.
 
The Lady Lions (1-1-1) are coming off a dominant performance against Jackson State Friday afternoon. SLU defeated JSU, 4-0, thanks to a pair of goals from freshman Ellie Williams in the first two minutes of the match. Southeastern outshot the Lady Tigers 25-1 cruising to the victory.
 
The Lady Vols (3-1-0), the 2018 SEC runner-up and national quarterfinalist, will present an extremely tall task to SLU. Tennessee is 20-3-1 in their last 24 home matches including a pair of wins to start the season over Fordham and Mercer. UT split a pair of road games last week falling to Rutgers, 1-0, and beating Columbia, 3-0.
 
Southeastern's defense appears to be ready for the test after yielding just two goals in their first three matches. The Lady Lions have also allowed one goal or less 28 times in 39 matches under third-year head coach Chris McBride.
 
Through the first three matches, SLU freshman Mya Guillory has shown the ability to attack the net. The Prairieville, Louisiana native, leads the Lady Lions with eight shots and four on goal.
 
On the Tennessee side, the Lady Vols lost their two top goal scorers from a year ago in second team All-American and SEC Offensive Player of the Year, Bunny Shaw, and Danielle Marcano (graduation). Despite the key losses, senior Mia Vignola is taking up the slack. The Cincinnati, Ohio native, leads the team with five points (two goals and an assist) and 11 shots. 

Thursday marks the first match between SLU and Tennessee. The Lady Lions have not faced an SEC school since Aug. 17, 2012 when they lost a tough one at Mississippi State, 2-1.
 
Southeastern departed campus at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday. The Lady Lions will  hold a team practice this afternoon at Samford University in Alabama and are slated to arrive in Knoxville around 8 p.m.
