Southeastern Set for Three Matches at Comfort Inn-vitational

HAMMOND, La. – Fresh off a sweep of Mississippi Valley State in nonconference action, Southeastern Louisiana rolls into its final tournament action of the regular season this weekend at the Comfort Inn-vitational in Morehead, Kentucky.
 
Southeastern (4-7) faces Marshall (7-3) at 2:30 p.m. (CT) Friday before wrapping up the tournament Saturday with a pair of matches, going up against Coppin State (7-7) at 10 a.m. and host Morehead State (6-3) at 1 p.m.
 
Live stats are available for every match in the four-team, round-robin event. Streaming video of all three Morehead State matches, including Southeastern's final tournament appearance, is available on ESPN+. The Lady Lions are led by Jodi Edo (2.64 kills/set), Caroline Golden (2.41 k/set), Sam Gomez (2.32 k/set) and Karlee Wilkerson (2.19 k/set). Gomez (.324), a junior from Mandeville, Louisiana, and Edo (.309), a senior from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, rank fourth and fifth, respectively, in the Southland Conference this season in hitting percentage.
 
Baylee Laskoskie (7.00 assists/set), a freshman from Spring, Texas, has handled the bulk of the setting duties this season and ranks sixth in the conference in assists. Ariana Hebert (0.38 aces/set), a freshman setter from Lafayette, Louisiana, rank eighth in service aces.
 
UP NEXT
Southeastern returns home next week to host a pair of Southland Conference matches at the University Center, Sept. 26 against McNeese and Sept. 28 against Lamar. The first 100 students at the McNeese match will receive a free spirit item from Southeastern Athletics courtesy the Pennington Center.
 
LAST MATCH
Southeastern Louisiana swept past Mississippi Valley State in straight sets Wednesday, 25-17, 25-18, 25-17, winning a nonconference match in Itta Bena, Mississippi.
 
Caroline Golden, a junior from Mandeville, Louisiana, and Jodi Edo, a senior from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, led the Southeastern offensive attack. Golden picked up six of her match-high 12 kills in the opening set. Edo contributed 11 kills while hitting a team-best .529 in the match.
