Lady Lions Travel to Mississippi Valley State for Nonconference Match

HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana will play its next four matches on the road, kicking off the stretch Wednesday at 6 p.m. with a nonconference match against Mississippi Valley State (2-11) at the R.W. Harrison HPER Complex in Itta Bena, Mississippi.
 
The Lady Lions (3-7) are led by Jodi Edo (2.56 kills/set), Sam Gomez (2.36 k/set), Caroline Golden (2.29 k/set) and Karlee Wilkerson (2.24 k/set). Gomez (.323), a junior from Mandeville, Louisiana, and Edo (.292), a senior from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, rank fifth and eighth, respectively, in the Southland Conference this season in hitting percentage.
 
Baylee Laskoskie (6.50 assists/set), a freshman from Spring, Texas, has handled the bulk of the setting duties this season and ranks eighth in the conference in assists.
 
Golden (0.39 aces/set), a junior from Mandeville, and Ariana Hebert (0.38 aces/set), a freshman from Lafayette, Louisiana, rank seventh and 10th, respectively, in the Southland in service aces.
 
Southeastern has defeated a pair of SWAC schools already this season, defeating Alabama A&M and Jackson State, while the Devilettes are looking for their first DI win this season.
 
UP NEXT
Southeastern continues its road trip this coming weekend, facing Marshall (6-3), Coppin State (3-6) and host Morehead State (6-3) at the Comfort Inn-vitational in Morehead, Kentucky. The Lady Lions face Marshall at 3:30 p.m. Friday before wrapping up the tournament Saturday with a pair of matches, going up against Coppin State at 11 a.m. and host Morehead State at 2 p.m.
 
LAST MATCH
Southeastern Louisiana knocked off Jackson State in four sets Saturday at the University Center, 25-18, 17-25, 25-18, 25-18, closing out the Lion Up Classic with a win.
 
Edo led the way for Southeastern, hitting at a .412 clip and posting a career-high 18 kills. She also had a hand in on two of the team's six blocks. Edo was named to the All-Tournament team for her efforts.
 
Gomez contributed an additional 11 kills and Laskoskie dished out 38 assists to aid the Lady Lions' offensive attack. Alexis Pratt (17), Lizzy Low (15) and Golden (10) each reached double-figures in digs.
