HAMMOND, La. – Middle blocker
Jodi Edo and transfer
Karlee Wilkerson led the Green squad to a four-set win, 25-16, 21-25, 25-22, 25-20, Saturday in Southeastern Louisiana's annual Green and Gold match at the University Center.
Edo (.333 attack percentage), a senior from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Wilkerson (.433 attack percentage), a sophomore from Springfield, Louisiana, both recorded 14 kills. Aided by another 10 kills from junior transfer
Hannah Barosh and 49 assists from freshman
Ariana Hebert, Green hit .209 as a team in the match.
Barosh led the way in the initial set, picking up four kills to pace the Green squad. Gold bounced back in the second set behind six kills from Baton Rouge native
Caroline Starns.
Wilkerson and Edo combined for eight kills in the third set as Green bounced back. Edo dominated down the stretch, picking up half of her kills in the final set.
"The big thing we have to focus on is keeping our intensity level up the entire match," head coach
Jeremy White said. "We're playing a little bit like a roller coaster, but when we get down we stay down. We've got to do a better job of getting over mistakes and focus on communicating as a team, keeping things positive on the floor. If we do that, we'll get through some of the hiccups we've had."
