JONESBORO, Ark. – Kris Kerr shot -4 for the Southeastern Louisiana golf team Monday to lead the Bubba Barnett Intercollege Tournament after two rounds at the par-72, 6,539-yard Ridgepointe Country Club.
 
Kerr, a sophomore, started well shooting a 70 (-2) in the first round. After a birdie, par and bogey to start the round, the Loranger, Louisiana product, shot par or better on 14 of the last 15 holes including three birdies to end the round.
 
The second round began even better for Kerr. The Loranger High School grad birdied four of the first seven holes, including the first three, to take the tournament lead at -5 after 25 holes. He finished the second round shooting another 70 (-2) taking the clubhouse lead at -4.
 
"Every part of Kris's game was great," said SLU head golf coach Jake Narro. "From his demeanor, to the way he played the tees and greens, he deserves to be in the position he is in."
 
Kerr has a two-shot lead over five players tied for second at -2.
 
The Lions are in fourth place (+14) while host team Arkansas State, ranked 28^th in the country, leads the tournament (+2)
 
Kerr and SLU will tee off tomorrow morning at 8:15 a.m. for the final round. Live stats and scoring will be available at the golf schedule page.
