BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Devin King will compete in the pole vault for the Southeastern Louisiana track team Friday at 5:30 p.m. at the NCAA Indoor Championships at the Birmingham CrossPlex and broadcast on ESPN 3.
The Kentwood, Louisiana native is a three-time NCAA All-American entering Friday's meet. The senior qualified for the championship setting a mark of 18 feet, 5.5 inches (5.63m), personal indoor best, at the Tyson Invitational Feb. 9 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
King enters the event of 16 participants ranked eighth and will be joined by three fellow Southland Conference members including Stephen F. Austin's Branson Ellis and Antonio Ruiz and Sam Houston State's Clayton Fritsch.
The Jewel Sumner grad was named second team All-Southland Tuesday after finishing runner up at the Southland Conference Indoor Championships to Ellis.
Also in the event is Mondo Duplantis (LSU), Matthew Ludgwig (Akron), Chris Neilsen (South Dakota), Sondre Guttormsen (UCLA), Jacob Wooten (Texas), KC Lightfoot (Baylor), Hussain Al Hizam (Kansas), Zach Bradford (Kansas), Drew McMichael (Texas Tech), Deakin Volz (Virginia Tech), Adam Coulon (Indiana) and Cole Gorski (Ohio State).
