HATTIESBURG, Miss. –
The Southeastern Louisiana track team set eight personal bests this weekend at the Southern Miss Invitational at Marshall Bell Track.

Zach Barthel had a terrific weekend with personal bests in the 800m and 1500m. The freshman finished second in the 1500m with a time of 4:03.48. The Kenner, Louisiana native, also finished fifth in the 800m at 1:55.70 ranking him 15th in the Southland.

Parker McBride, a redshirt freshman from Dutchtown, Louisiana, finished third in the 800m with a time of 1:55:17, a personal best.

Clarissa Smith won the women's 3000 steeplechase. The Holden, Louisiana native, finished with 11:33.39 for a personal best while teammate Lyndsey Hutcheson was second (12:00.68), also a personal best.

Tara Stunz set a personal record in the 1500m finishing with a 4:54.86. The sophomore from Prairieville, Louisiana, ranks 20th in the Southland.

Reed Callegan and Shawn Singh added to the weekend of personal records.

Callegan, a sophomore, finished fourth in the men's 3000k steeplechase. The Baton Rouge, Louisiana product, set a mark of 10:09.78

Singh, a freshman from Ponchatoula, Louisiana, ran a 2:02.72 in the 1500m to a set a personal best.

"Kids performed great and pretty much everyone had personal bests," said assistant SLU track coach Rocky Capello. "The conditions weren't great with the wind and rain but I though Zach and Parker looked great. Clarissa winning the steeple and Tara getting a PR (personal record) was good to see. Overall I thought the entire team was terrific this weekend."
