KILLEN, Ala.  – Miller Maestri shot a first round 74 (+2) and second round 75 (+3) to lead the Southeastern Louisiana golf team after 36 holes at the Spring Classic at Turtle Point Country Club Monday.
                                             
Maestri, a Baton Rouge, Louisiana native, had three birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey in the first round. The sophomore was up and down in the second round but finished with a three birdies, four bogeys and a double bogey finishing the day +5.
 
Joris Etlin, after a tough first round of 80, battled back nicely in the second round shooting an even par, 72, the best round of the day for SLU. The senior from Frejus, France, had three birdies and three bogeys in the second round.
 
Sophomore Logan Kuehn had a nice bounce back in the second round as well. The Lake Charles, Louisiana native shot a 73 (+1) with two birdies and three bogeys in the round after a first round 79 (+7).
 
"We had some guys compete well today," said SLU golf head coach Jake Narro. "But as a whole we're not getting the job done right now. We need to have a good day tomorrow and moving as we prepare for the conference tournament."
 
SLU was joined in the tournament by host team North Alabama, Belmont, Jacksonville State, Troy, Morehead State, Murray State, Stetson, Valparaiso, DePaul, Loyola-Chicago and IUPUI.
 
After the first two rounds, North Alabama leads the tournament shooting -8, five shots  ahead of second place Jacksonville State (-3).
 
UNA's Aaron Jackson leads the individual scoring by two shots shooting -8.
 
The Lions will tee it up for the final 18 holes tomorrow morning at 8 a.m.
