HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana University junior Landen East, head coach Lawrence Allan and former All-Southland Conference player Grady Brame have all qualified for the 2026 United States Amateur Championship, scheduled for August 10-16 at the Merion Golf Club and Philadelphia Country Club in Pennsylvania.
 
East, a native of Sulphur, La., earned a spot in the national field at the final qualifying round Tuesday at the Dallas National Gulf Club. East fired a two-under par 70 to earn one of the nine qualifying spots from Tuesday's event.
 
Allan and Brame, who were former teammates with the Lions, earned their spots in May. The pair won the USFA U.S. Amateur Four Ball Championship. Both Allan, who enters his fifth season at the helm of the SLU golf program this fall, and Brame were three-time All-Southland Conference performers during their Southeastern playing careers.
 
The starting field of 312 players for the U.S. Amateur will play 18 holes of stroke play on Aug. 10 and 11 – one round at Merion and one at nearby tournament co-host Philadelphia Country Club – after which the field will be cut to the low 64 scores.
 
Six rounds of match play begin Aug. 12 and the championship concludes with a 36-hole championship match Aug. 16. The winner and runner-up earn exemptions into the 2027 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach Golf Links in California.
