Southeastern saddles up for weekend series at Oklahoma State

STILLWATER, Okla. – One week after opening Southland Conference play, Southeastern Louisiana faces Oklahoma State in a three-game nonconference series at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium.
 
Games the Lions (6-10) and Oklahoma State (10-5) are scheduled for 6:05 p.m. Friday, 2:05 p.m. Saturday and 1:05 p.m. Sunday.
 
Saturday and Sunday's games are scheduled to be broadcast in the Hammond area on the flagship station of the Southeastern Sports Radio Network, KSLU 90.9 FM, online at www.LionSports.net/ListenLive and via both the Lions Gameday Experience and TuneIn Radio apps. Fans can also keep up with all the action through streaming video, live statistics or by following @SLUathletics on Twitter. The Lions, who did not face any midweek competition, dropped two of three games to Central Arkansas this past weekend in their opening weekend of Southland action. Oklahoma State, who won two of three games at the Dodger Stadium College Baseball Classic the past weekend, is coming off a 13-2 nonconference win Tuesday over Missouri State. 
 
Southeastern is hitting .250 collectively, with 22 doubles, four triples, eight home runs and 28 stolen bases. The Lion pitching staff has worked to a combined 5.28 ERA, striking out 130 batters in 145 innings. Opponents are hitting .258 off Southeastern pitching.
 
Kyle Schimpf (.355), Preston Faulkner (.286) and Cody Grosse (.284) pace the Southeastern offensive attack at the plate. Faulkner, Nick Ray and Nathan Pilutti are tied for the team lead with a pair of home runs each, while Ray and Pilutti are the team leaders in RBI (16) and stolen bases (9), respectively.
 
Corey Gaconi (1-1, 3.04), a senior from Metairie, Louisiana, draws the nod for the Lions in the opener, opposing Cowboy junior right-hander Jensen Elliott (1-0, 2.79). Neither team has announced starting pitchers for each of the final two games in the series.
 
Hueston Morrill (.333), Bryce Carter (.327), Trevor Boone (.320) and Carson McCusker (.302) are the Cowboys' leading hitters. Boone has hit a team-high four home runs while Colin Simpson owns a team-best 15 RBI. Morrill leads the squad with five stolen bases.
 
Oklahoma State is hitting .277 collectively, with 30 doubles, three triples, 14 home runs and 18 stolen bases. The Cowboy pitching staff has worked to a combined 3.43 ERA, striking out 146 batters in 134 innings. Opponents are hitting .239 off Oklahoma State pitching.
 
Southeastern returns home Wednesday to Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field, Swinging into Spring at 6 p.m. against Alcorn State. A buy one ticket, get one free offer is available for the game and free mini bats will be handed out (while supplies last).
 
TICKET INFORMATION
General Admission tickets for Lion home games are $9 for adults and $6 for children (ages 3-12). Southeastern students are admitted free with a valid university ID card.
 
Single-game tickets can be purchased online at www.LionSports.net/Tickets or by contacting the Southeastern Athletics Ticket Office at (985) 549-5466. Office hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Fridays. The ticket booth at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field opens exactly one hour before first pitch.

LIONS GAMEDAY EXPERIENCE APP
