HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana women's basketball team will look for its third straight victory on Saturday, hosting Jackson State at 1 p.m. in the University Center.
The contest between the Lady Lions (2-4) and the visiting Lady Tigers (1-5) will be broadcast live in the Hammond area on KSLU-FM (90.9), online at

Bren'naisa Adams will be Saturday's Spotlight Players of the Game. The first 150 fans will receive trading cards featuring the Lady Lion newcomers, courtesy of PRIDE.
Southeastern is coming off an 89-67 victory over LSU Alexandria last Wednesday in Hammond. In the 2019-20 home opener, the Lady Lions finished with season highs in scoring, field goal percentage (53.1), three-point field goal percentage (56.3) and rebounds (52).
Celica Sterling led SLU with 23 points and was joined in double figures by
Charliee Dugas (16),
Aminat Jubril (12) and
Morgan Carrier (11).
Caitlyn Williams led the Lady Lions with nine rebounds, while
Tyler Morrison dished out a game-high five assists.
Southeastern is averaging 62.5 points per game, as
Jyar Francis (13.5 ppg, 5
th) and Sterling (13.0 ppg, 8
th) are among the Southland Conference's top scorers.
Alexius Horne (8.2 ppg), Carrier (8.0 ppg) and Dugas (7.2 ppg) are the other top scorers for SLU. Horne also is second in the Southland with 4.2 assists per contest.
The Lady Lions have been efficient from behind the arc, ranking second in the league with a 34.3 percent success rate from three-point range. Carrier is second in the league with a 66.7 three-point field goal percentage (10-for-15), while Francis and Sterling are among the conference's best with 2.0 three-point field goals per game.
Jubril (6.0 rpg) and Williams (5.4 rpg) are the top rebounders for SLU, which enters Saturday with a minus-1.5 rebounding margin.
Opponents are averaging 63.5 points and 18.8 turnovers per game versus the Lady Lions. Horne is 10
th in the Southland with 2.3 steals per game, while Williams and Jubril share team-high honors with four blocks apiece.
Jackson State has played a challenging schedule thus far, with its only win coming at Northwestern State (66-49). The Lady Tigers have losses to Tulane (82-46), Miami (83-68), Indiana (91-51), Mississippi State (92-53) and Central Arkansas (57-54).
Marneisha Hamer (13.5 ppg) and Ameshya Williams (11.2 ppg/10.0 rpg) are the top players for JSU. Kaisah Lucky leads the team with 3.0 assists per game. Williams paces Jackson State with 10 blocked shots.
Southeastern is 8-9 all-time versus Jackson State. Last season in Jackson, SLU earned a 50-45 victory over the Lady Tigers. Sterling led three Lady Lions in double figures with 15 points, while Hamer (17 points, 10 rebounds) posted a double-double in a losing effort for JSU.
