HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana has signed three volleyball athletes to a National Letter of Intent to continue both their academic and athletic endeavors as members of the Lady Lion program, head coach Jeremy White announced Tuesday.
 
The Lady Lions add outside hitter Kailin Newsome of Friendswood, Texas, outside hitter Nylissa Snagg of Katy, Texas and libero Ansley Tullis of Slidell, Louisiana.
 
Newsome averaged 6.1 kills (per set), 0.7 assists (per set) and 4.1 digs (per set) as a senior. She also posted a .319 attack percentage for Clear Brook H.S. Newsome is also a member of Houston Stellar Volleyball Club.
 
"Kailin is a true six-rotation outside hitter with a great volleyball IQ," White said. "We believe she will be an elite player in all facets of the game for our program."
 
Snagg helped lead Seven Lakes H.S. to a combined 53-29 overall record (18-5 in district) over the past two seasons. She is also a member of Katy United Volleyball.
 
"Nylissa is a fiery player with a big upside thanks to her great athletic ability," White said. "Her leadership qualities are something that have jumped out to me since the first time I watched her play."
 
Tullis was the MVP of the Louisiana Division IV state tournament as a sophomore. The hybrid outside hitter-libero had 18 kills this past weekend, leading Pope John Paul II H.S. to its fourth state title in the past five seasons. A member of Wattle Daub Nation, Tullis is a five-time national champion.
 
"Ansley brings a lot of winning and a phenomenal level of ball control to our program," White said. "She is one of the best volleyball players in the state of Louisiana and probably has been since eighth grade."

Southeastern's season continues Friday at 11 a.m. in the first round of the Southland Conference Volleyball Tournament. The No. 7-seeded Lady Lions face a rematch with Sam Houston State, the No. 2 seed. The single-elimination event runs Nov. 22-24 on the campus of Central Arkansas in Conway, Arkansas. The Lady Lions, who return to the postseason tournament for the first time in three seasons, wrapped up the regular season with the third-largest year-to-year improvement in the nation. Southeastern's 12-win improvement over 2018 trails only Milwaukee (17), Central Michigan (14) and Robert Morris (14).
