HAMMOND, La.  – The Southeastern Louisiana volleyball team celebrates Senior Day and will look to clinch a spot in the Southland Conference Tournament, the Lion football team looks to protect its share of the league lead and the SLU men's and women's basketball teams continue non-conference play during this week in Southeastern Athletics.
 
The Lady Lion volleyball team (13-15, 7-7 Southland) enters the week needing a victory to return to the postseason as a result of its impressive turnaround under first-year head coach Jeremy White. On Tuesday, SLU hosts Nicholls at 7 p.m. in the University Center.
Seniors Jo Simovic and Jodi Edo will be honored before Saturday's 1 p.m. regular season finale versus Sam Houston State in the UC.
 
Fresh off a 34-0 victory at No. 6/7 Central Arkansas that gave it a share of the conference lead, the Southeastern football team (6-3, 5-2 Southland) will close out its regular season road schedule next Saturday, facing Abliene Christian at 1 p.m. in Abilene, Texas. The game will be televised on ESPN+ and can be heard on the Southeastern Sports Radio Network (KSLU-FM (90.9), Kajun 107.1 FM, The Highway 104.7 FM and The Boss 103.7 FM/1400 AM WFPR), online at www.LionSports.net/listenlive and via the Lions Game Day Experience and TuneIn Radio apps.
 
The SLU men's basketball team (0-1) will host three non-conference games to officially open its 2019-20 schedule. On Monday, the Lions host Xavier (La.) at 7 p.m. in the University Center. In celebration of Veteran's Day, fans with a valid military service or unit member (police, EMT, Firefighter, etc.) ID can bring it to the ticket office before game day or the ticket window on game day and receive two free tickets to the game.
 
On Wednesday, SLU welcomes Grambling for a 7 p.m. contest. It will be Friends at the UC night, as fans who pre-purchase game tickets for two of more friends will receive a special ticket price of $10, receive a general admission ticket and meal voucher for the concession stand. Wednesday will also be a Cane's Challenge Night at the UC. If the Lions score 70 or more points versus the Tigers, fans can redeem their game ticket or student coupon at the local participating Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers by the close of business Thursday to receive a free combo with the purchase of another of equal or greater value. SLU closes its home stand on Sunday, hosting Mobile at 1 p.m. in the University Center.  
 
For the month of November, Southeastern Athletics and LA Child Welfare Training Academy are collecting unwrapped toys for children in foster care at home men's and women's basketball games. Fans who drop off toys will receive a voucher for a discounted ticket. The types of toys needed include dolls, puzzles, gift cards, sports equipment, bikes, skateboards, books, headphones, board games, video games and arts and crafts.
 
The Lady Lion basketball team (0-1) will continue its five-game road swing to open the 2019-20 campaign. On Wednesday, SLU heads to Southern Miss for a 6 p.m. game in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Southeastern closes the week on Sunday, facing in-state rival UL Lafayette at 4 p.m. in Lafayette.
 
The Southeastern Sports Network will offer a free video stream of all of this week's volleyball and men's basketball contests. The latest episode of Inside Southeastern Football With Frank Scelfo is set for Monday at 7 p.m. at Tope La Catering in downtown Hammond. Head volleyball coach Jeremy White is Monday's guest and the door prize is a volleyball autographed by the SLU volleyball team.
 
Hosted by Scelfo, the Lions' second-year head coach, and Allen Waddell, the hour-long show airs weekly from Tope La Catering, located at 113 East Thomas Street every Monday at 7 p.m. through Nov. 18.
