BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southeastern Louisiana track team will send eight student-athletes to the KMS Indoor Invitational Sunday at the CrossPlex Athletic Facility.

SLU's Stevon Crooks, Jebarri Cumberbatch, Thomas Nedow, Cliff Resias, Donovan Storr and Justin Taylor will compete for the men. Ashley Davis and Kristian Jackson will suit up for the women.

Crooks and Davis will be joined by newcomers Jackson and Nedow in the shot put event.

Davis, the first team All-Southland Indoor shotput selection, headlines the group after setting a school record 54 feet, six inches at the Southland Conference Championship last year. The junior from Watson, Louisiana, was named 2016-17 Southeastern Female Athlete of the Year.

Crooks, a Westmoreland, Jamaica native, won the Southland Conference Indoor shot put event with a personal best of 56-11.  The senior was also named first team All-Southland Indoor for the shotput.

Jackson, a freshman from Zachary, Louisiana is competing in her first meet with an impressive high school resume. The Zachary High School grad holds the LHSAA record for the shot put and won the state championship her senior year.

Nedow comes into his first meet with Southeastern with high hopes. The freshman from Brockville, Canada, competed in the Canadian National Championships in June finishing seventh.

"I am looking forward to seeing how these four perform," said second-year SLU track head coach Corey Mistretta. "Coach (Matt) Tholis has been doing a great job with them and I'm expecting a strong performance behind the strong showing by Alexia Stein Friday in Lake Charles"

On the track, Taylor, Resias, and Cumberbatch will be joined by Storr, a native Andros, Bahamas. The freshman could have an immediate impact for the Lions in the 200m, 400m and 600m.

"I think Cliff and Jebarri could have special seasons for us," said Mistretta. "And I'm expecting Justin to really make a move towards the top as well so tomorrow will be a great test for them. Donovan has been exceptional in his training since returning from the Christmas break and I am expecting him to perform well. I think the best part about this is everyone on this trip is energized and excited about the performances from yesterday at the McNeese meet and they want to keep the ball rolling."
